We are about to purchase a DEC ra82 for use on our VAX-750 running 4.3Bsd. I have not been able to find any documentation on the 82 anywhere. My questions are simple; 1) berkley has a ra series driver, what do I have to do, if anything , to make the ra82 work. 2) what are the slice sizes on the 82? thanks in advance for the info.

(BSD calls them `partitions', not `slices'.) All you need do is add size tables for the ra82 (and, if you boot off the ra82, and you boot off other than partition `a', offset tables in stand/uda.c). (I assume the standard 4.3BSD driver distinguishes between different kinds of RA disks---we never used it; we use my driver.) You get to make up the sizes yourself. Alternatively, switch to 4.3BSD-tahoe and put a disk label on the RA82. -- In-Real-Life: Chris Torek, Univ of MD Comp Sci Dept (+1 301 454 7163) Domain: chris@mimsy.umd.edu Path: uunet!mimsy!chris
