[comp.unix.questions] Why "su uucp" in root crontab, instead of uucp crontab?

Another "I was just wondering" question...

In SVR3 (ISC 386/ix to be precise) uucp demons are fired up by the root
crontab with a "/bin/su uucp -c ...". Why are they done this way, instead
of being fired up from a uucp crontab?
