[net.cooks] OK to discuss mod.recipes here

reid@glacier.ARPA (Brian Reid) (12/12/85)

As you all have surely noticed, mod.recipes is alive and well.
Because of its "archival" nature I am trying to keep chatter and discussion
off of it. However, this means that there isn't any real public forum in
which people can ask for changes or complain about it or praise it. That's
not healthy. Every magazine needs a "letters to the editor" column.

I would therefore like to encourage people who have public suggestions for
mod.recipes or public complaints about it to air them here in net.cooks. So
far almost all I have gotten is complaints, but I am assuming that silence
is happiness, and that most people are well on their way to assembling their
own typeset copy of the USENET Cookbook.

I plan to post a second round of software soon. It will mostly be the same
as the first round, but it will include customizations and fixes for SysV
and other non-BSD Unix systems. Some SysV sites seem to have had tremendous
difficulty getting the software to run, while others report that they needed
only to change a few characters.

Keep those recipes rolling in, folks!
