[comp.unix.questions] who runs .profile?

jsb@althea.UUCP (Clever Hans) (07/28/89)

I'm running A/UX and a strange thing (tm) is happening. When I login
(my login shell is ksh) my .profile is not being run. And when I run
mail, my .mailrc isn't being run. $HOME is correctly set to my home
directory, I own my .* files and they have read permission. Is it
my breath?

They will probably need execute permission also.
