Hi all! I just got a Micropolis 1588 to add to our Sun-4/110. I have cabled the guy in (between the controller and sd0), removed the terminator from the new drive and verified that the factory configured it as sd1 with the jumpers. So far, so good. The machine shows the new drive as sd2 on boot. I am told that this is normal. The drive passes its self-test. But it cannot be found by format! format only sees sd0. I modified format.dat using the proper specs from the manual on the 1588, but that makes no diff. All connections are tight, and cables are not over 5 or 6 feet in length. I know the cables are good because sd0 is at the end of the chain and is perfectly functional. What is happening here? Could the drive be bad? Is there something about m1588's I should know? To recap, the drive is seen at boot, and not seen by format. All info welcomed; if there is interst, I'll summarize.
