[comp.unix.questions] multiple COM ports under 386/ix

Is there an easy way to add multiple com ports to 386/ix
by adding them into the asy file then setting a parameter
somewhere in the system to tell it that you are using 4 serial
ports instead of the default of 2?  I would like to install one
of the cheap 2 port boards as COM3 and 4 and after adding them
into the asy file - kconfig refuses to rebuild the kernel.
