*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MACARONI *** I wish to make an inquiry of the cooks and chefs of the Net as to whether they have ever encountered a flat pasta strainer (the strainer is flat, not the pasta!) of the kind which is held against the top of a pot to allow the water to be poured off without losing the pasta? Lonnng ago I had such a tool (it got munged in the dishwasher :-( ) that was semicircular and had a lip which braced it against the side of the pot. Now I have searched high and low for another such strainer and the best I have been able to find is a cheap wooden one (the holes have splinters in them, yet!). I have seen the large screens on a hoop on a handle and while they might do in a pinch, they are large and not much easier to clean than a colander (one of the reasons I wish to get away from the colander method of straining). If anybody knows where one might be had in the Chicago area, or mail ordered, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Replies will be gratefully acknowledged. Thanx in advance. --Dan-- -- ------------------------------- Disclaimer: The views contained herein are | dan levy | yvel nad | my own and are not at all those of my em- | an engihacker @ | ployer or the administrator of any computer | at&t computer systems division | upon which I may hack. | skokie, illinois | -------------------------------- Path: ..!ihnp4!ttrdc!levy

I've used one of those blue-flecked enamel crab pots (some call them spagetti pots) for a long time now. They come with a strainer that goes all the way to the bottom. You can get them at places like K-Mart, Gold Circle, Target, etc., and they are fairly inexpensive. -- jill c. arnson ihnp4!drutx!jca AT&A IS, Denver (303)538-4800 Lily Tomlin says that the key element in power dressing is "...sort of like a scarf, sort of like a tie, sort of like a ruffle, and it doesn't threaten anyone because you don't look good in it."
