If I understand what pseudo-terminals do correctly, then we have an application that could benefit greatly from using them. However, I'm not very familiar with how to use them. We're using HP-UX 6.5 on an HP9000/370. The man entry pty(7) has got us off the ground, but I could use something more tutorial-like (there are some things happening that I don't quite understand - like our process becoming defunct and ignoring signal 9 - and monitor shows it has pty's open). Also, what services does the ptydaemon provide, and how does one employ it (I've read TFM, and found no reference to this daemon)? Any help, *help, or **help would be greatly appreciated. Follow-ups are being directed to me. Anyone interested in a summary of responses can send me mail.
