I tried to respond to psm@manta.nosc.mil.UUCP, but email bounced, so... *************************************************************** In article <991@manta.NOSC.MIL> you write: >I want FTP to execute a canned set of commands from a >local file as though I had typed them from the console. >None of the shell tricks seem to work with FTP. Can >anyone suggest a way to do this? > I'm no UNIX or FTP expert, certainly, but I *do* have a working copy of a program called AUTOFTP30 that allows me to put SIMTEL20 file descriptions into a local file and fire off an FTP session in the background, with continuous retries until connection is established using some random retry process that I don't understand. All I had to do was unshar the file Keith Petersen sent me, compile three c programs, and it was ready. Each time I want to request files from SIMTEL20, I just place their names and directories in a file and "batch" the file off in the background. I can email this shar file if you think any of it would be helpful. -- "Moby" Dick O'Connor ** DISCLAIMER: It would Washington Department of Fisheries ** surprise me if the Olympia, Washington 98504 ** rest of the Department Internet Mail: djo7613@blake.u.washington.edu ** agreed with any of this!
