[comp.unix.questions] FTP commands from an input file

I tried to respond to psm@manta.nosc.mil.UUCP, but email bounced, so...

In article <991@manta.NOSC.MIL> you write:

I'm no UNIX or FTP expert, certainly, but I *do* have a working copy
of a program called AUTOFTP30 that allows me to put SIMTEL20 file
descriptions into a local file and fire off an FTP session in the
background, with continuous retries until connection is established
using some random retry process that I don't understand. All I had
to do was unshar the file Keith Petersen sent me, compile three c
programs, and it was ready. Each time I want to request files from
SIMTEL20, I just place their names and directories in a file and
"batch" the file off in the background. I can email this shar file
if you think any of it would be helpful.
