I find that my local California grocery stores do not sell things called "navy beans" or "pea beans". We have "small white beans" and "great northern beans" and "white beans" that look similar, but I've found after cooking some recipes with them that they don't taste similar. What I want to buy is @i[phaseolus vulgaris], the Boston Bean, and it just doesn't seem to exist here in antiboston. Anybody know what the secret west-coast name for Boston beans might be? If all else fails, I guess I can buy 20 pounds of them at Shop Rite the next time I'm in New Hampshire..... -- Brian Reid decwrl!glacier!reid Stanford reid@SU-Glacier.ARPA
