[comp.unix.questions] Where Is The Latest Version of "fingerd"?

peterson@fsucs.cs.fsu.edu (Eric J Peterson) (02/07/90)

Following the Internet worm ordeal of over a year ago, the CS Dept here
shut down our finger daemons on our primary servers. However, we never
obtained an updated version with the known security holes patched, so we've
been without finger for some time.

I have checked on several sites for an updated version of fingerd without
success. There is no source for fingerd on ucbarpa.berkeley.edu or ucbvax.
Uunet does have the source, but it is dated March 89, which apparently also
has some security holes in it.

Does anyone know where I can find the updated source for fingerd? If it
matters, we've got a Sun 3/280 under SunOS 3.5, and a 3/280 and a 3/480
under SunOS 4.0.

Please respond via e-mail to the address below and I'll summarize if there
is interest. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Eric
