[comp.unix.questions] Xmodem for Unix

twong@civil.ubc.ca (Thomas Wong) (02/07/90)

Does anyone know where I can get a hold of Xmodem for Unix?
I have a Sun 4 running SunOS 4.0.3. I downloaded the Xmodem from
Simtel20 in PD2:<UNIX-C.XYZMODEM>. It compiled and executed, but
it failed midway through transmission. I signed onto my Sun
from home and tested the Xmodem with 2 comm programs that has Xmodem
that I know works (I've been using them for my local BBS).
For both programs and during both upload and download, Simtel's
Xmodem had zero error until after about halfway when every packet
was an error. I have tested this with several files, using checksum,
CRC and 1 Kb packet configurations with Xmodem with both of my
programs. So I concluded that Simtel's Xmodem doesn't work.
Does anyone have an Xmodem that they know works and have been using?

On the same note. What is the latest version of Kermit for Unix?
Is there a C-Kermit that has a max packet size of over 94 bytes?
I have Kermit Version 3.0 on the PC and it's max packet size is 2Kb.
I would like to use it more efficiently. Too bad I can't ftp from home.

Thanks for all your help.

Thomas.
