[comp.unix.questions] Ethernet for AT&T 7300

HENRYM@BRL.MIL (02/21/90)

We are expanding our system base to include UNIX. We just received
(Actually, they threw it from a speeding truck and yelled, "Here, catch!")
an AT&T 7300 Unix PC. Since we are also in the process of moving to TCP/IP
and already have a building-wide Ethernet backbone, the next logical step
would be to hook this little beastie into the net. There does not appear
to be anyplace on the back of the unit to add such a card.

Is it possible to add an Ethernet adapter to this unit? Please,
no snickers or guffaws if I'm asking a stupid question: just the facts,
cold, hard and brutal as they may be.

The Unix PC has three slots in the back towards the bottom of the box. There
are several (all right, maybe a few) cards that can go into these slots.
The ones I know of are:
  Memory
  Serial Port
  Ethernet
  8088 coprocessor

I can get more information about the Ethernet card, since I have two of them.
Let me know if you need it.

Read the unix-pc groups if you can get to them. There is a ton of information
available and lots of free advice there too.
