OK, stop me if you've heard this one. We've got a VAX (running Ultrix 2.0-1) with a LaserWriter I attached on one of the serial ports, configured at 9600 baud (it's /dev/tty03, if you're curious). My boss has a PC which we've got hooked in the same way thru his COM2 port. He uses ProComm to login and make sure we're not just playing NetHack all the time. So, here's the problem he's posed me: he wants to issue a simple command on the VAX, escape from ProComm (which keeps the login session alive), kick Word up on the PC, and have Word print to the VAX's LaserWriter. So far I've gotten Word to say 'printer not ready' after issuing 'cat > /dev/tty03 < /dev/tty03' on the VAX and then escaping out to MeSsDOS. Obviously I'm doing the redirection wrong; there's either a simple solution similar to what I've already tried, or it's almost impossible. Can someone enlighten me on which it is. Thanx.
