How does one go about writing a troff filter? I would like one for the HP Laserprinter II so I could type : troff -Thp file | lpr -p hplp and get the proper troff output. How?

It's a moderately hard job, and if you can afford to do so I'd recommend you simply acquire one of the commercial products that do this (we use Elan Computer Group's EROFF, but there are others).
