[comp.unix.questions] Minix: what is it?

avilla@rodan.acs.syr.edu (Aldo Villa) (03/22/90)

Trying to discover something more of the world of unix-clones, I have
discovered also Minix.

Somebody wrote me that Minix is a sort of 'didactic' version of unix which is
useful to get acquainted with this O.S.. Price would be $46 !!!

Could somebody make for me a brief summary of the history and of the
characteristics of Minix?
			   Thanks:
				     Aldo.

MINIX is an operating system developed by Andrew Tanenbaum.
See his book

I found the book to be very readable.
