[comp.unix.questions] How can I access a file knowing only its inode?

rouben@math9.math.umbc.edu (Rouben Rostamian) (03/29/90)

How can I access a file (for read, write, stat, etc.) knowing only its inode
number? I cannot find a system call or C function to do this. Do I need to
supply more information than just the inode? What else is needed (short of
supplying the file name and path?)

Any hints?
