The behavior you describe sounds like a possible result of not having tcsh in the list of valid shells (in /etc/shells). In fact, /etc/shells may not even exist if you haven't had any users using anything but sh and csh, so it would need to be created. *linda* Linda Foster foster@oac.uci.edu
