Back in 1985, some kind person on the net told me how to get RCS. From either the same person, or someone else (I can't recall), I also got a version of Make that understood RCS. It knew when a file version had changed and automatically checked out a new version for me. For our needs it was perfect. This was running on a VAX 750 (4.2 BSD). We successfully move the binary to a VAX 785 (4.3 BSD). Now we've got a DEC 5810 RISC machine and the binary can't be moved. We used to have the source, but it disappeared and nobody knows when. A strings(1) on the binary reveals few clues, but some revisions were checked in by 'fuka' and there's also a few occurrences of 'Walter F. Tichy' and 'Purdue'. Is there any chance that this source code is still available somewhere? For the record. No, I don't want to change to SCCS. Yes, I've tried GNUMake and it doesn't behave the same way, and the differences are not a matter of form but of function. Any pointers to source would be greatly appreciated. -- --- Jennifer K.
