What is the correct behavior for cpio regarding blocks claimed but not actually used? That is, if a file is created, seeked to 1-meg, a single byte written and then copied using cpio (-p or -o and then -i) should the resultant file actually use 1-meg worth of file system blocks or only the number allocated to the original file? A recent upgrade to SYS V.3 from V.2 seems to have altered the behavior. A mail response would be appreciated as I don't regularly read this group. Rick Pasotto fwp@unccvax.uncc.edu
