[comp.unix.questions] Transaction monitors for Unix

stb@isbank.is (Steintor Bjarnason) (07/31/90)

Has anyone heard about TP-monitors for Unix (any type of Unix) ?
(An example of a TP monitor is Dec-TP for VMS)

A TP monitor should be able to do the following :

The TP monitor listens to a network/serial lines/X.25/..... and
waits for a transaction from the outside world. When a transaction
arrives the TP monitor examines it and decides upon it's type what
it should do with it. Some transactions would be sendt to application
A, others would be sent to application B and some would be handled
by a RDBMS. (The applications could be C programs which would
execute a number of SQL transactions). When the transaction has
been executed the TP sends the result to the user/program which
  sent it.

If you know of TP monitor which works in this fashion then
please E-mail the answers to stb@isbank.is
