[comp.unix.questions] UUCP over REAL TCP-IP

mje@olsa99.UUCP (Mark J Elkins) (08/21/90)

I have successfully compiled SysVRel3.2 sources of UUCP - including (I
believe) the Ethernet driver. How do I get an ethernet uucp connection?
Ethernet rlogin/telnet/rcp/smtp - all works fine.

Systems Entry... xp5 Any TCP,e Any xp5 in:--in: secret word: secret
Devices Entry... TCP TCP 64 uucp TCP

I do not understand why the entries are as why they are. I do not
know what information I should have in my /etc/services or inet.conf
files. I would assume that I should be calling the 'telnet_daemon'
server on the target machine (for passwd validation - etc). I do not
have a 'uucp_demon'.

Currently - running 'x9' on 'uucico' - I get...
....
chdir(/usr/spool/uucp/xp5)
conn(xp5)
ProtoStr = e
Device Type TCP wanted
Internal caller type TCP
tcpdial host xp5, port 5
family: 2
port: 5
addr: c8010105
connect failed: Connection refused
Internal caller type TCP
tcpdial host xp5, port 5
family: 2
port: 5
addr: c8010105
connect failed: Connection refused
getto ret -1

PLEASE - Can anyone help? (I'd prefere mail replies...) This question
has been posted before - no one replied. In about 2 weeks time - if I
get no answers - you'll see it in 'comp.unix.wizards'.
