Just a short question here.
I am currently archiving all my usenet readings with zoo and downmloading
them as binary files.
This is working quite well, expect for one thing.
The text files evidently are stored with line-feed characters terminating
lines. So when I unpack the archives on my home computer, all the files are,
first, of binary type (which isn't such a problem), and second, contain
line feeds where my computer likes return characters to be.
So my question is, is there any routine in the UNIX environment which will
globally run through a given file and change all of a specified control
character to another control character?
Is it likely to be faster than the 512 bytes per second my home computer's
filter command?
