We have been recently finding ourselves hit pretty heavily by power surges and outages, to the point at which the payback time on a UPS or good surge protector would be very short. I am soliciting peoples opinions on: 1) Any UPS or surge protector manufacturers they know of. Please include address and phone if you have them. 2) More importantly, if you have a UPS or surge protector, how well does it work? Has the manufacturer been responsive to your requests and problems? How good is the service? If you knew what you do now when you purchased it, would you have done the same thing? We are looking for something between 5 and 15 kW. 220 service would be nice, but it is not essential. UPS would only be required to supply power for long enough to gracefully shut down the machines. ( roughly 30 secs to a minute worst case ) Any suggestions or aid in this matter would be appreciated. *Please* EMAIL. I will summarize to comp.unix.questions. I wish to minimize the bandwidth I use for this question. Thanks in advance for your time. Mark A.
