[comp.unix.questions] ran out of memory ?

Hi netter,

   I'm compiling Tex on Vax/8530 running Ultrix-32 v3.0. The following message
appears:

/bin/cc -s -o trapmf tmf0.o tmf1.o tmf2.o tmf3.o tmf4.o tmf5.o  tmf6.o tmf7.o
 tmf8.o tmf9.o tmfext.o trapmf.o tmfdisplay.o MFlib/mflib.a
ld:MFlib/mflib.a(__.SYMDEF): ran out of memory (toc)
*** Error code 4
Stop.
*** Error code 1
Stop.

We got 32m RAM installed. Swap space known. I tried shutting down the machine
to single user mode and re-compiled, but the problem remained.
Any hist? many thanx!
