I'm helping a small local college with their UNIX woes. Most recently, they had me crank up a DJ11 on a PDP11/40. (urk.) Now they're buying a VAX 11/750, and intend to run 4.1 BSD Unix. Not a bad choice, but they want me to port the DJ11 driver to the VAX so they can--you guessed it--use the dj11 on the VAX. (URK.) I can, without modesty, claim that I have no problem whatsoever hacking any- where in the USG Unix kernel. However, I've never seen the Berkeley internals, and won't be getting a copy of the source till just before they need the mod. And I've heard that the i/o subsystem interface is significantly different on the BSD Unix from that in the Bell version. So, I come to the net to ask if anyone can describe, in detail, the differences between the two systems at the driver level, and what I might have to do to port this thing. Thanks in advance, Dave Ihnat ihuxl!ignatz
