I use the Andrew console and Ez on a daily basis. I have a Sun3-80 with the standard 8 meg of memory and 12 meg of swap space. When I was using the MocaChip console my computer would run out of memory overnight and blow out of an xlock as well as X itself. I'm positive the console was the culprit. A process list however, did not show console as having any huge amount of memory allocated. Has anyone else had this problem with any Andrew consoles ? I use the Antique console now and have another smaller and less annoying problem. The computer slowly loses memory. It takes about a week to get to be a problem and quiting and restarting X windows will solve it. I can't exactly blame this problem on the Andrew software but from my earlier experience I'm reluctant not to look there first. Suggestions ? I don't know much about the Andrew system so I'll include the startup messages (for version numbers) (Version 7.0, ATK 14.2); please wait... Thanks for you time and expertise, Greg

>Has anyone else had this problem with any Andrew consoles ? I'd *love* to use console to consolidate some things on my display, but I've never gotten the text logs to come up with a scrollbar, despite the fact that the documentation says that one will appear when the log gets "big enough". >I use the Antique console >the startup messages (for version numbers) >(Version 7.0, ATK 14.2); please wait... You're certainly running ooooold stuff here. The first clue is that you mentioned the Antique console -- many of the console files (including the Beak console (sniff sniff)) seem to have disappeared between the x11r3 and x11r4 releases (I'm not sure on the ATK version numbers involved), so the fact that you've got that one is suspicious. I ran my console (x11r4, pl7), and it tells me Version 7.6, ATK 15.1), which confirms it. I'd suggest that you get the base tree from the x11r4 distribution, apply all 7 (soon to be 8) patches, and rebuild. If you're running SunOS 4.0.3, this'll build just fine. If you're running 4.1, you'll probably want to wait for patch 8. --
