[comp.unix.questions] SCO man, xman

jerry@polygen.uucp (Jerry Sheckel) (12/01/90)

Hello. I'm running SCO ODT and am very pleased with the package,
except for a couple of things.

First of all, the man program dumps core about half the time. It works
fine, but dumps core when it exits. This is really annoying. Any solutions?

Second, the xman program creates a new temporary file in /tmp for every
manual page you look up, and then doesn't bother to delete them (well, maybe
it deletes the last one it created). It's probably calling mktemp() each
time instead of only once. This is also annoying. I'm developing a Motif
application, so I need xman up most of the time. The consequence of this
bug is that after mktemp() runs out of names (after it has reached 'z' in
the filename), no more manual pages can be looked up until I manually go into
/tmp and delete the xman* files by hand. Anyone else? SCO?

Besides these two things, ODT has been great so far! SCO, please help!
