Does anyone know of a good networking system that will allow me to connect my MS-DOS PC's to my Sun 3/80's (running SunOS 4.1) other than Sun's own PC-NFS. In particular, there is a notice on the Sun literature that indicates Locus Computing's PC-Interface and MIT's PC-IP. Does anyone out there know anything about these (or other networking) products that would fit this setup. If it is useful, I have 3-4 on-site PC's and 2 Sun's, I would like peer-peer capabilities on the PC's but it is not a priority (Sun's PC-NFS doesn't do it). I would also like to allow access from a number of off site locations, through modem connections. Again this is not a necessity. Finally, my on-site PC's are already connected to an ethernet through a terminal server which they get to via their serial ports. If possible, I would like to avoid the expense of ethernet boards on every PC. What I need to be able to do at a minimum is: store data files and programs on the Sun and access them from the PC's (the programs should be runnable by more than one PC simultaneously), print to lpt?: on the PC and have it rerouted to the Sun for placement on the Sun's print queues. Remote backup of the PC onto either the Sun's tape backup unit (preferably) or disk drive (if that's the only way). Adam Carlson acarlson@math.umass.edu
