I work for a consulting firm in the Chicago area. We recently purchased a Plexus system running UNIX System III. (Reviews of the Plexus will follow in a while. It's not gonna be a bed of roses...or if it is, the thorns are still there.) Right now, what I'm looking for is SOFTWARE. I already have the /usr/group catalog, so anything covered there we know about. What I'm specifically looking for is ANY public domain software; reasonably priced utilities, such as, but not limited to, visual text editors, visual shells, etc., etc. (Yes, editors--this may also become a demonstration system, showing what can be done with a small machine). Also, if there are any other Plexus users out there, please let me know. Finally, does anyone have either an electronic mail address or an analog net address (telephone number, bunky) to someone at Berkeley who can help me with a question re Berkeley software? Specifically, we didn't buy a source license (The office couldn't see ~30K...*sigh*. Makes bug fixes hard...) yet would like to *buy* (magic words) the Berkeley UTILITIES that don't originate at BTL, such as ex/vi, more, etc. Please respond directly to me via mail. If anyone wants the results of this-- if any--I'll mail them to you. If enough requests come in, I'll digest them and post to the net. My greatest thanks to all of you, Dave Ihnat Analysts International Corporation, Chicago Branch (contract site) Bell Telephone Laboratories, Naperville ihuxx!ignatz (312) 979-6747
