(Apologies if you see this twice -- I've been having posting difficulties.) We (OUCS) have been evaluating a DEC System 3100 running Ultrix for a couple of months. It's good enough for us to have ordered a 5500 as general Unix service. The standard batch system (at(1) and batch(1)) is primitive in the extreme and is quite inadequate. The question is: What other batch processing systems are available for Ultrix on a DS-5500? I already know of Condor, a check-pointing distributed system available free from Wisconsin U. I've installed it on Suns and will try to get it going on the DS3100 unless DEC call in their loan. I also have an evaluation copy of SUPERNAT from SO Systems. The full system costs real money. We are prepared to pay for a commercial product if that is what is best, but will be happy with freeware if *that* turns out best. Please mail me directly with recommendations and information. I will summarise to the net any replies I receive.
