I have just found myself responsible for porting the files about 25 users from a VAX/VMS system to unix, does anyone have a good way to do this somewhat painlessly? Right now I am having to ftp the files one directory at a time - since there are 25 users with 10 to 100 subdirectories each, and each subdirectory may have 200+ files, this takes forever!!!! Any suggestions? If it will help, both the VAX and the unix machines have 1/2" tape drives, but all the VAX can write (that is readable here) is tar, and some users have filesystems bigger than 1 tape. THANKS!!! gdrew@tove.cs.umd.edu
