[comp.unix.questions] Looking for a good YACC handbook

tamari@bimacs.BITNET (tamari zvi) (02/06/91)

I consider writing a compiler using YACC.

For that I need a good handbook about it.

If anyone knows about a book please write me about it.

                                        Thank you in Advance,
                                                Zvi Tamari.

Don't know of a good handbook. References for two tech reports
follow:

	S. C. Johnson
Yacc - Yet Another Compiler Compiler
	Technical Report 32
	Bell Laboratories
	July, 1975

	Brian M. Sullivan
	Yacc Reference Manual
	Technical Report TR-86-12
The Wang Institute of Graduate Studies
	September, 1986

If you find a good manual or handbook, please send me the reference
via email.

Hope this helps.

Try 'lex and yacc' by Tony Mason and Doug Brown, published
by O'Reilly Associates. Believe it or not, neither their
current catalog nor their latest newsletter contains an
address of telephone number. They're located at 632 Petaluma
Avenue in Sebastopol, California.
