I have 2 SParcstations, identical as far as I can tell, connected to a laser printer via a sharing box along with several PCs. The printer sharing box uses CTS for handshaking. Accordingly, I included the stty parameter "crtscts" in printcap, and all is well, at least for *one* Sparcstation. In the printer sharing box, the CD line (carrier detect) is not connected to anything. Accordingly, I did an eeprom ttyb-ignore-cd=true on both machines. This satisfies *one* of them. The *other* won't transmit anything unless I connect the CD line to the CTS line. (Thereby making CD go high whenever it's OK to transmit.) I can easily modify cables to do this, BUT I'm wondering why one of the Sparcs requires it and the other doesn't. Is there something in software that I'm overlooking, that determines whether CD is ignored? -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Covington, Artificial Intelligence Programs, U of Georgia mcovingt@uga.cc.uga.edu (Try our FTP archive: aisun1.ai.uga.edu) -----------------------------------------------------------------
