[comp.unix.questions] How do I make less display ansi/highlights ?

maxc1553@ucselx.sdsu.edu (InnerTangent - human1) (03/07/91)

The system the less is running on is bsd4.3 unix.
The version number shown by running 'less' is "version 97".

I like 'less' for many reasons. It scroll back and forth. It do searches both
ways. 'Less' offer so much more 'More' can offer. :-)

One drawe back tho... 'Less' don't display highlights invoked by ^[[1m series.
'Less' also doesn't display '^[(0 ^[(B' ansi graphics. As a result, I
have to stick with more. Could I be terrible wrong about this? I hope so.
Please enlighten me.

p.s.	if you don't know what I was talking about in '^[[1m' and
'^[(0' and '^[(B'. I'll try to display them. Your terminal
might not be able to display them.

		Here goes ...

[1m 'This should be in highlight' [0m
		(0 ijklijklaaaa (B

Thanks for any help!!!

Before trying to track down your problem any further, I would strongly urge
you to get the most recent version of less.

It was just posted in alt.sources today or yesterday. And it's version 170,
which is *significantly* different from your version. It probably already
fixes the problems you are having.
