Hi, how can I/people participate in the newsgroup (or whatever name this thing has) comp.sys.m88k, i.e. how can I observe discussions (get mail) and how can I sent mail? Is this a thing line I-UNIX? Jochen Manns Physikalisches Institut der Uni Bonn Deutschland

Is this a thing line I-UNIX? No, it isn't like INFO-UNIX. The INFO-UNIX mailing list is gatewayed to the newsgroup comp.unix.questions. This means that mail sent to the mailing list is posted to the newsgroup automatically, and postings to the newsgroup are sent out (in digests, I believe) to the members of the mailing list. This means that people who do not have access to the Usenet can participate in INFO-UNIX. On the other hand, comp.sys.m88k is not (as far as I can tell) gatewayed to any mailing list. This means that the only way to access it is through the Usenet. If you do not have access to the Usenet (a.k.a. Network News, a.k.a NetNews), then you do not have access to comp.sys.m88k. I do not know if your site has any sort of Usenet access, and I doubt that the vast majority of people on this list know, since that is something that is very specific to your site. You will have to check with your site administrators about that. -- Jonathan Kamens USnail: MIT Project Athena 11 Ashford Terrace jik@Athena.MIT.EDU Allston, MA 02134 Office: 617-253-8085 Home: 617-782-0710
