Hello net-world, We are embarking on a system conversion that involves migrating to Motorola's 88k platform. Our first pilot system is intended to by december/january. We asked Motorola to give us AT&T SVR4 with the systems, and they said they were planning on giving us SVR3.2 since SVR4 isn't planned for release until 3rd quarter 1991. There feeling is that we are better with SVR3.2 rather than SVR4 because of the potential problems with using a new operating system rather than a user tested older operating system. What I would like to know from the net is why you would rather have SVRxx over SVRyy (fill in xx and yy as you prefer), and why. What features are so great about SVR4 that we should demand them, and what reasons should we not demand them, etc. We are interested in all opinions, please e-mail and I will summarize if there is interest on the net. Thanks in Advance, Brian. -- Brian Minnebo (Chrysler Motors MIS Tech Services) Oakland University: bminnebo@vela.acs.oakland.edu Chrysler Corp: ... uunet!umich!sharkey!cfctech!techsys!brian
