Two months ago we were (finally:-) connected to the "rest of the world".
We're running a number of SysV machines here, interconnected by TCP/IP
and OSLAN (from ICL). Up till then we also could not forward our mail.
I got smail, built it on the machines, and since then everything I
always wanted to do was possible. (I tried sendmail first, but ran into
too many problems porting it.)

Thus: get smail up and running.

Paul.

I am using Amdahl's unix, UTS, which is I gather a sys V
(at least I miss a lot of BSD stuff!).

I use the ~/.forward file to point to my elm filter rules
and it works fine.

Have you actually tried using the ~/.forward file?

This works with some mail implementations.

Edit the file /usr/mail/{username}. Put this line in, word for word:

Forward to {address}

And you can also use "Forward to host!user" for UUCP. [host1!host2!...!user]

Or maybe even "Forward to smarthost!user@host". Wow! [UUCP to `smarthost'.]
