[comp.unix.questions] Automount's symboic links not working

andy@caplabs.uucp (Andrew Hunt) (04/12/91)

Hi,
	I'm trying to set up NFS with the Automount daemon
on an SGI Personal Iris.

For example:
I'm trying to mount machine_a:/usr/joe onto /usr/joe.

Automount successfully mounts the target under
/tmp_mnt/usr/joe and makes a symbolic link
/usr/joe -> /tmp_mnt/usr/joe

However, any attempt to access /usr/joe or any
subdirectory results in
/usr/joe: not a directory.

ls -l /usr/joe reveals:
lrwxrxxrxx  24 me   other   512 Apr 11 21:37 /usr/joe -> /tmp_mnt/usr/joe

But I can't cd to it!

Any advice will be GRATEFULLY appreciated...
