A problem has started recently which I can't figure out. For some reason, each time a file is printed, lpd seems to forget to check if there are more entries in the queue and I have to periodically do a "lpc restart ion" to get things moving again, although it only prints one job and then dies again. An lpq shows there are entries in the queue, and also prints the message "Warning: no daemon present". I have a real hack in place to handle this (a cron job that does a "lpc res ion every minute"), but I don't want to keep this solution in place obviously. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Here's another clue. If I print a file and wait for it to be printed, then print another, and another, and so, each time waiting for the previous job to print before queueing the new job, the jobs all print. If I print several in a row, only the first one prints, and then none after that.... -- Peter Steele Postmaster peter@auad.acadiau.ca Tel: 902-542-2201 Software Analyst, Acadia University, Wolfville, NS Fax: 902-542-7224
