I have a Hauppauge 4860 motherboard which has both an i486 and an i860 CPU. Hauppauge supplies software so that you may boot and run programs on the i860 while running Unix on the i486. However, I do not have the spare $$ to buy a commercial i860 C compiler (last I checked, prices were ~$2000). Therefore, I would like to get GNU's gcc to operate like a cross-compiler running on the i486 and generate object files for the i860. I have the sources for gcc 1.39 and have successfully compiled for the i486 under Intel SVR4. The documentation for cross-compilation is not terribly clear and was wondering if anybody else has done this and/or could give me some pointers. Any help offered is greatly appreciated.
