I am designing a short course to allow Pascal programmers to "move up" to C. Emphasis will be on coding style and avoidance of pitfalls. The course would consist of some discussion and a lot of student self-study. Some of the points to be covered: o Coding style (using some of the documents that have appeared on the net) o Homework: includes students writing selected standard C string functions so they know what they do and how much processing they entail. o Pitfalls in C ( & operator precedence, uninitialized pointers, etc.) o Some discussions about portability and Unix(tm) etiquette (accept lower case answers, etc.) I would appreciate any thoughts and/or materials on the subject.
