cryptkpr@cc.utah.edu (H. CARLTON DOE III) (06/29/91)
I am installing my first SCO Unix system and I have a couple of questions.
All have to do with the boot process. I've searched thru the rc2.d files
and not found the answers so here goes to the net:
1. during boot the OS stops at the boot prompt waiting for a <CR>
or name of an alt-kernal. How can i set it so it only
pauses for x seconds then moves on?
2. next I have to cntrl-d or enter the root password to continue
the boot, how do I set it to just go to multi-user mode
automatically?
3. there are prompts to enter the system time as well as check
a subsystem database, how do you get rid of those?
4. can the reboot command be given by a remote terminal (say
attatched via modem) and will that terminal be able to
control the boot process? I will need to do some
administration of this machine via a modem and need to
know the limits of control I'll have.
That's it for now. I appreciate any help sent my way. Please send
e-mail to save $$$ bandwidth and my apologies if these are FAQ.
