Greetings... I've finally managed to get the ARC5.x utility, which was posted to net.sources some time ago, to work correctly for all kinds of packing. It does the right thing for the "freshen", "update", "move", etc. It runs without a hitch on our VAX 11/780 w/ BSD4.2 unix. If you're not running something similar, there's no guarantee that my mods will work for you, but I don't *remember* doing anything amazingly non-portable. I haven't seen much noise about this lately, so I won't post, but mail me a path and I'll be glad to send you diffs. WARNING: This is a big, hairy, ugly patch, which may offend the more discriminating programmer.
