I have installed smail2.5 on my system (AT&T 3B2/400 running SysV 2.0.4) and everything seems to be working (thanks to you netlanders who helped), but I have a question. How does mailx that comes with system V fit into the smail stuff? The origional mail got replaced, so what should happen to mailx. It appears that mailx is similar to sendmail (although I could be wrong :^) ). You should have renamed rmail to rmail.old (just in case) :-) and then copy smail to rmail, and then link rmail and smail. When mailx sees the "hosta!hostb!hostc!...!user" syntax (or "user@host") for that matter it feeds the output to rmail for remote delivery.
