The PD version of ctime(3) which was recently posted has a problem in generating its data files on some systems. The author was unable to duplicate it, but is present on this AT&T/Convergent 3B1 (System V). I have defined USG_COMPAT (and examined the few lines affected in localtime.c). The program 'zic' is what generates the compiled data base of time zone descriptions. An entry with no daylight savings time, such as "CST6" is fine, but the DST entries such as "CST6CDT" are zero: 0000000 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 \0 * 0000054 Getting GMT time instead of CST6CDT is the end result.
