Earlier this year, there were a number of postings to the effect that a
new version of MicroEMACS, MicroSPELL, and MicroSCRIBE (???) would be
posted to the net this fall. Did I miss them, were they delayed, did the
author become permantently disabled????? If someone could post the status
of the Micro... series, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

This is holding me up for about 2-3 days. I suspect I will let the BETA run for about 4 weeks and then post the 3.10 version on my BBS and start packing it up to be sent out on usenet. BTW: I have these nightmares of "MicroEMACS 3.10 part 1 of 50" coming up..... and I would be really suggestive to alternatives. There are a lot of people with just UUCP access and not ARPA but if there are some UUCP file servers out there.... A few hard-working people (who usually have REAL jobs and their own personal lives to conduct) attempt to produce and distribute software for the general public, on a free or voluntary fee basis. When users don't get these people to jump up and down at their beck and call, we begin to see increased net bandwidth consisting of messages containing snide remarks and personal slights. Though I'm as interested in seeing new versions of uEMACS come out as the next person, I'll be damned if I can see why the author would BOTHER! Requests for info are reasonable, but David, don't you think it would make more sense to sound encouraging instead of sarcastic? If my position seems a bit harsh, then by all means get a copy of the EMACS source, and start looking at the effort required to produce a MS-DOS version of that product. Reid M. Pinchback

Here's a possible solution:
Post to comp.archives a request for archive sites to carry
MicroEMACS. I'm sure that you'll get some responses.
When you send it to them, post to comp.archives a list of sites where
you sent it. You could also then post a pointer message in other
groups that says that you have released it and it is available on
those various archive sites.
If you'd really like to make my job easier, look up the first two
articles I posted: <115@twwells.uucp> and <116@twwells.uucp>. These
contain information on the database format I will be using. Though
they are already slightly out of date, I can easily fix up any minor
differences.
