I am looking for ways of moving a full-duplex bit stream about a kilometer through an area which not infrequently has very heavy fog. This rules out optical schemes. Laying cable is extremely expensive because of the terrain. This leaves microwave. The data stream is available in two forms - 10 Megabit NRZ with clock, or 20 Megabit Machester encoded. If the 10-meg form is used, the system has to do very solid clock recovery, so sending the 20 Meg Manchester looks better all around. I am looking for either off-the-shelf subsystems, or sources of components for building a microwave link to meet these specs. I have looked at things like the GE Gemlinks, but they aren't fast enough. Surely someone out there in netland knows about plumbing the world of tiny waves and can help me. Also, we aren't the Fone Company, so the cost must be bounded (ideally, less that $20K for both ends). Thanks, -Mike O'Dell
