[comp.sources.d] notesfile info wanted...

jhall@amc.UUCP (John Hall) (04/13/89)

Our BSD4.3 system has documentation (dated 1985), but no source or executable
for a news (not USENET News) distribution system called, "The Notesfile System."
The documentation ("Notesfile Reference Manual") was written by:
Raymond B. Essick IV and Rob Kolstad, and come from The CS Dept at U of IL at
Urbana-Champaign.

It looks real neat (especially for internal discussions where USENET becomes
too churlish). I would like some information about the status of "notesfile"...

1. Is it public domain? (or at least fairly cheap)
2. Where can we get a copy?
3. Can we get the source code?

Is there a better alternative? We need an easy to use, fast (A MUST),
discussion system to promote internal communication involving more than two
persons. It will be used for things like reviews of software, hints and tips,
comments, etc.

Please respond via E-mail....I will forward to anyone who requests it.
