The programs "top" and "vmpic" (tools for monitoring process and system
status) were posted to USENET awhile back, and we had been using them
with much success for many years. However, "top" no longer works with
SUN 4.0, and "vmpic" won't work with either SUN 4.0 or ULTRIX 3.0
Has anyone ported these programs to the above systems? I think part of
the problem may be the NFS/yellow pages stuff which both these systems
support. Alternatively, does anyone have a similar tool which is known
to work with both systems?
I'd be interested in either patches to the original sources, or a complete
new set of source code. If you are willing to send either one, please send
EMAIL first, so that I don't get multiple copies (and to be nice to our
neighboring uucp sites).

While we're at it, there used to be a very nice "ps"-like program
called "sps", which ceased functioning with Ultrix 2.0 and up. Is
there an updated version somewhere?

We're using top version 2.0 (which is old, I think). Don't you hate program updates that break the older program's functionality?
